Community Outreach

Skyway gave back to our community throughout 2020, with a number of targeted community grants.

SKYART in the 10th Ward offers a broad range of free visual art programs to young people. In response to COVID-19, they now offer virtual studio programs. SKYART is using their grant toward the Impact Program, which offers free art programs for any child who wants to participate. They offer art therapy to help children who are struggling with the impact of COVID-19 and other home-life challenges.

South Shore Unified Block Club Organization (SUBCO) located in the 8th Ward works to improve the neighborhood and quality of life for its community members. In October, with Skyway’s grant, SUBCO gave away face masks to Haven of Rest Missionary Baptist Church and Haven of Rest Senior Apartments. Additional grant money went toward continued clean-up of businesses impacted by Chicago’s unrest throughout the summer and to buy holiday plantings and decorations to beautify the business strip on E. 79th Street.

Libby Elementary and Middle School in the 20th Ward requested items to better equip teachers with remote learning. Skyway’s grant purchased 18 Wi-Fi boosters, five Chromebook laptops and four subscriptions for teacher resources and online programs.
